MURSKA SOBOTA, Slovenia — January 21, 2026 — The Center for Knowledge Management (CKM), accompanied by key stakeholders from the Municipality of Kriva Palanka, played a pivotal role at the 3rd Transnational Project Meeting of the URBANFLOODS project.

KRIVA PALANKA, North Macedonia — As of December 2025, advanced monitoring equipment installed along the Kriva Reka river is fully operational and successfully collecting real-time hydrological data, marking a major step forward for the URBANFLOODS project in the Adriatic-Ionian region.

On 1 and 2 October 2025, in Valencia, Spain, the first meeting of the partners of the Lab of the Future project was held.

The Risonic team, consisting of students Mia, Sara, Matea and Velinčo from the "Gosho Vikentiev" Secondary School - Kočani, will represent the Republic of North Macedonia at the international SMART CITY HACK hackathon, which will be held on October 16 and 17, 2025 in Nova Gorica, Slovenia.

On August 27th (Wednesday), 2025, within the framework of the UrbanFloods project, co-financed by the European Union through the IPA ADRION program, a water flow monitoring station was successfully installed in the pilot area of the Kriva River in the Municipality of Kriva Palanka.

Meet Matej, Iva, Ana Marija and Viktorija from the School of Economics - SOEPTU "Kuzman Josifoski - Pitu" - Prilep, who together with their mentor Prof. Emanuela formed the team Pravnici.

As climate change accelerates and extreme weather events become more frequent, the need for innovative and effective flood risk management tools is more urgent than ever.

Floods are one of the most common and damaging natural disasters that seriously affect the environment, economy and safety of people, especially in parts of republic of North Macedonia where riverbeds are narrow and urbanization is unplanned.

In North Macedonia, where the terrain is characterized by frequent transitions between mountains, basins, and valleys, flash floods in urban areas present a serious threat, especially considering the current climate change and its effects. Climate change, as a global phenomenon, is characterized by an increase in average temperatures worldwide. Global warming, in turn, affects weather conditions, especially the frequency of extreme weather events (heat waves, extreme precipitation, storms)

Today, the 5 th of April, marks World Environment Day—the largest global platform for environmental public outreach—a time for reflection and action on some of the most pressing challenges facing our planet.

On May 27, 2025, as part of the MKSafeNet project, the Center for Knowledge Management (ЦЗУ) organized a visit to SUGS "Georgi Dimitrov" in Skopje. 

Within the framework of the MKSafenet project, on May 21, 2025, the Center for Knowledge Management visited the Kiro Gligorov Elementary School – Center, Skopje.

On May 16 (Friday) 2025, the Knowledge Management Center (KMCC), in collaboration with the Faculty of Information Sciences and Computer Engineering (FINKI), conducted an educational visit to three schools in the Municipality of Shuto Orizari.  

Within the framework of the second transnational meeting of the URBANFLOODS project, which took place in Rijeka, Croatia, the Center for Knowledge Management (CKM), together with the Faculty of Information Sciences and Computer Engineering (FINKI), presented the findings from Kriva Reka as a pilot area selected for the implementation of project activities in the Republic of North Macedonia.
