Within the framework of the second transnational meeting of the URBANFLOODS project, which took place in Rijeka, Croatia, the Center for Knowledge Management (CKM), together with the Faculty of Information Sciences and Computer Engineering (FINKI), presented the findings from Kriva Reka as a pilot area selected for the implementation of project activities in the Republic of North Macedonia.

Kriva Reka has been identified as a critical location within the municipality of Kriva Palanka, due to its vulnerability to floods and the expressed need for systematic and integrated measures for climate risk management. In this regard, activities are planned aimed at:

🔹 Mapping and analysis of the pilot location
🔹 Application of nature-based and technological solutions
🔹 Development of monitoring, data management and early warning systems
🔹 Active involvement of the local community, as well as relevant local and national stakeholders

The meeting summarized the findings from the national analysis and the first national workshop, realized with the participation of representatives from local and national institutions and organizations from North Macedonia.

The presentation of the findings of the pilot site - Kriva Reka to partners from eight countries was part of a broader process of exchange of experiences, good practices and innovative approaches in addressing flood and climate change risks. The aim is to strengthen the resilience of communities throughout the Adriatic-Ionian region.

Through such regional cooperation, North Macedonia actively contributes to the creation of sustainable and resilient communities at the regional level.

The Knowledge Management Center (KMCC) continues to actively work on the creation and implementation of innovative solutions for climate resilience and sustainable local development.
