Venice, Italy, is known by several names, one of which is the ‘Floating City’. This is due to the fact that the city of Venice consists of 118 small islands connected by numerous canals and bridges and we, the CKM team, got to visit it together. We got to spend 5 days together, 2 of them in Venice and the rest 3 days in Nova Gorica, Slovenia.
On 11th of November we were in Venice and from this point and on we were fascinated by the baroque style of Venice streets or may I say canals. We reached our hotel by ferry which was also pretty unusual for us. It was time for dinner and we all knew what was on the menu. Pizza and pasta of course! We didn’t even looked at the other things at the restaurant.
All the restaurants were built the same way, small, cozy and crowded, decorated with candles and wonderful pictures on the walls.
We finished the night with a walk on the St Mark's Square or Piazza San Marco.
The next day, excited, we immediately went out to explore the rest of Venice. We walked through the small, tiny Italian streets, passed The Bridge of Sighs, St Mark's Basilica and reached the Doge's Palace where we went in. Doge's Palace is a palace built in Venetian Gothic style, and one of the main landmarks of the city of Venice in northern Italy. There are kept one of the most spectacular pictures and sculptures of all times. The walls are so high and splendorous, it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen.
Then we visited the Museo di San Marco. There were a lot of historical, antique things such as old maps, books, weapons, engraved plates etc. The night we were feeling a little sad to leave but also excited to arrive in Nova Gorica in Slovenia.
Nova Gorica is a town in western Slovenia, on the border with Italy. Now there is no official border between Nova Gorica, Slovenia and Gorizia, Italy and people can easily pass the border, they can even be in the both countries at the same time as we are on this picture. #GoBorderless
The people form Slovenia were kind and had everything planned out for us. After the breakfast they took us to the Xcenter which is center about connecting creativity, art, business, research and education. We had fun spending half of the day in the center trying out the potable technologies that were exposed. We also made an intellectual exercise which contained storm of ideas that we had to share, like a little presentation with the rest of the team about a specific given theme.
The day continued with visiting Primorski Tehnoloski Park, where we met with young entrepreneurs and exchanged our stories. Kristina Popova form our group explained all about the Popri Project in details and everyone were so interested, really liked the idea behind the project and where it is going.
The next day we had so much activities such as visiting many landmarks, monasteries and hearing all about the story of the city. As the lunch time was arriving the Slovenians took us to try a Slovenian, traditional prepared duck with souse. It was something different but very tasty, we all agreed that we recommend it for sure.
The night was planned out for a special concert that was held in Nova Gorica. It was about the sound of the threes and the unusual thing was that we all listened to it through headphones. It was calming, we felt relaxed and enjoyed it.
After that, we found ourselves full and fascinated of this trip and it became officially an amazing work trip experience. Went home with our hearts full and our body ready for the next day at the office.
