On September 1, 2024, the Center for Knowledge Management, in the role of a project partner, started the implementation of the project "Center for Safe Internet for Children and Youth - MkSafeNet", whose coordinator is the Ministry of Digital Transformation, with financial support from The European Union through the Digital Europe program.

The main goal of the project is to establish a National Center for Safe Internet for Children and Youth, following European practices and the practices of countries in the region, while addressing the lack of such a resource in the country. In accordance with the objectives of the EU, within the framework of the Digital Europe program, the initiative focuses on improving the digital safety of children and young people.

MkSafeNet will be implemented over the next 18 months and will include a study with an action plan for specific obligations of each of the stakeholders, the establishment of a center for raising awareness of online threats, a helpline, a youth panel and an advisory board. The project is fully compliant with the EU Digital Services Act and the Better Internet for Kids (BIK+) strategy, which further brings the country closer to European standards in the digital sphere.

The Safe Internet Center will have a base of educational resources adapted and available for children and young people, which will allow easy accessibility. Campaigns, numerous workshops, school visits and public events are planned to encourage digital literacy. The situation with the safety of children in the Internet space in the EU has been systematically monitored for the past 10 years through the "Monitoring report for a better Internet for children". The main goal is to compare and exchange knowledge about policies and activities that promote the safety and well-being of children in the digital environment based on the recommended measures from the European Strategy for a Better Internet for Children (BIC Strategy).
